2026 Scholarship Opportunity

Celebrating the Next Generation of Engineers

Submission Deadline: April 1, 2026

The Lowry Engineering Scholarship Program was established to support qualified students pursuing engineering degrees at accredited institutions of higher learning. The program seeks to encourage academic excellence, professional development, and leadership within the engineering field while strengthening the future of the Red River Valley.

To be eligible, applicants must be currently enrolled in, or accepted for enrollment at, the School of Civil Engineering at one of the following institutions: North Dakota State University, University of North Dakota, University of Mary – Bismarck.

Application Requirements

To be considered for the scholarship, applicants must submit both a letter of intention and a 500-word essay.

1.   Letter of Intention

The letter of intention must include the following information:

  • Current GPA
  • School currently enrolled in
  • Previous and current coursework relevant to engineering studies
  • Extracurricular activities and/or hands-on engineering experience (projects, labs, internships, research, etc.)
  • Plans for college completion
  • Internship interests and career goals
  • Applicants must also include their full name, mailing address, email address, and phone number in the letter.

    2.    Essay Requirement (500 words)

    The essay should explain how engineering has influenced you or had an impact on your life.

    Selection Process

    The scholarship will be awarded to the applicant who demonstrates the strongest writing, originality, and alignment with the mission of Lowry Engineering, as determined by the scholarship committee. Scholarship will be awarded by April 30th, 2026
